Barratt Homes Guest Blog

With election fever now in full swing, home buying finds itself at the top of the political agenda.  Much has been done in the last couple of years to help hopeful house buyers – especially first time buyers – to achieve their home ownership dreams.  Help to Buy – Equity Loan has proved a phenomenal success – and at Barratt Manchester, we’ve recently celebrated our 600th Help to Buy completion.

Combined with lower stamp duty, the future looks much brighter for prospective buyers, especially for those in the North West, where prices are considerably lower than in London and the South East.

We’re also pleased to share some exciting news of a brand new Help to Buy mortgage product, available exclusively in the North West through Acumen, one of our panel of independent mortgage brokers.  It’s been devised to assist customers who have been declined a mortgage by high street lenders – often as a result of automated credit scoring systems.  The new product by Aldemore views each case on an individual basis and offers a really viable alternative for many prospective buyers.  You can find out more through Acumen: http://www.acumen-ifa.com/

At Barratt Manchester, we welcome the recent announcement from the government that’s it’s to launch a Help to Buy Isa.  It tackles both low interest rates for savers trying to accrue a deposit, and the large deposits required by lenders.

But talking to sales colleagues on the ground, there seems to be a high level of confusion over how it actually works, and who it’s aimed at. The scheme doesn’t launch until the Autumn, but we’ll be preparing for it by ensuring that our team are Isa experts and can talk it through with our customers. No jargon – we promise. You can find out more about the Isa here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/414027/FTB_factographic_final.pdf

Before I sign off – I just wanted to share how proud we are to have achieved national recognition by achieving the maximum 5 stars in the industry’s annual customer satisfaction rating run by the Home Builders Federation (HBF).

The independent UK-wide survey, completed by over 30,000 UK homebuyers revealed that over 90 per cent of local respondents would recommend Barratt Manchester to a friend.  This makes the North West Barratt Homes division amongst the most highly rated house builders in Britain and the division has now won the award six years running.

It’s a fantastic achievement, but we won’t be resting on our laurels!
