Cheshire East key worker housing need survey

Cheshire East Council has launched a major survey into the potential housing need of key workers throughout the borough. The survey seeks to appreciate the experiences of recruiting and retaining staff by partner agencies in the Cheshire East area, staff who may find it difficult to access affordable housing and homeownership near to where they work and therefore contribute to our local communities.

The definition of a Key Worker within Cheshire East is as follows and has been taken from the Government’s Key Worker scheme, taking into account the local position; Staff employed within the following public sector roles on a permanent basis;

  • NHS workers (e.g. nurses and junior doctors)
  • Teachers
  • Police
  • Prison Officers
  • Probation Service
  • Local Authority (e.g. social workers)
  • Fire Fighters
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Highway Agency Traffic Officer Service
