Help to Buy Latest Figures Revealed
According to official statistics 73,813 homes have been bought since the launch of the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme in April 2013, up until December 2015.
Nearly 9,000 of these were bought in the North West, with 85% being sold to first-time buyers in the region. 8 of our Local Authorities also feature in the top 50 in terms of completed sales: Manchester (11th), Liverpool (15th), Cheshire West and Chester (18th) Cheshire East (26th), Chorley (30th), St Helens (34th), Rochdale (44th) and Salford (49th).
The average purchase price for the North West was £186,000, well below the national average.
These figures are really encouraging and it’s great to see so many first-time buyers taking their first step onto the property ladder. The scheme is growing in popularity year on year, and we expect these figures to continue to increase as we received a record number of applications in February 2016.
