There's No Place Like 'Home' for Liverpool Couple

Liverpool couple, Rachael White (25) and Jonathan Atkinson (29), are the latest in a line of first time buyers to take advantage of the Government backed Help to Buy scheme at 'Home'.

Rachael commented: "As a young couple we were left with the option of either buying a home or getting married, but with Help to Buy we can do both."

The couple, who are currently renting a two bedroom flat in the city, have now reserved their three bedroom home and are keen to start planning for the future.

Rachael continued: "The cost of renting is actually just too expensive, especially when you consider that you could own a three bedroom house for less than the rent of a two bedroom flat! The house is also much nicer and we can really make it our own, something we've been unable to do whilst renting."

With Help to Buy, buyers own 100 percent of their home, yet they only require a five percent deposit and they receive an interest free equity loan (for the first five years) of up to 20 percent. For example, a three-bedroom property at Home priced at £122,950, requires a deposit of £6,148 and a mortgage of £92,213 if purchased through Help to Buy**.

Rachael added: "The specification of the houses at 'Home' is fantastic, you really do get a lot for your money. The living area is my favourite part of the house - we have friends all around the country, so we're really looking forward to having all the extra space to entertain guests."

Peter Vella, regional sales and marketing director, Countryside, commented: "Help to Buy has been a highly successful initiative and one that has provided buyers with an opportunity they may not otherwise have had to move onto or up the property ladder. For Rachael and Jonathan, it has provided them with a platform to start building their future and we welcome them to the neighbourhood."

With a range of two and three bedroom homes available from just £96,500, Home forms part of a wider regeneration project currently being delivered in partnership with South Liverpool Homes.
